👋 What Is This?

This is a complete study guide for anyone preparing for a senior, staff, or lead-level job interview focused on Voice AI technology. It contains 168 detailed questions with model answers, 45 quick screening questions, and 7 practical exercises across 12 sections.

Whether you are applying for a role as a foundation model trainer, a production stack engineer, or a team lead, this handbook gives you the exact questions and answers you need to practice.

📋 What's Inside?

The material covers the entire voice AI stack:

🧠 Section Overview

| Section | Topic | Best For | |---|---|---|---| | 1 | Audio Fundamentals | Everyone | | 2 | Speech-to-Text (STT) | Foundation Model Roles | | 3 | Text-to-Speech (TTS) | Foundation Model Roles | | 4 | Real-Time Voice Agents | Production Stack Roles | | 5 | Speech LLMs | Foundation Model Roles | | 6 | Serving Infrastructure | Production Stack Roles | | 7 | Data Preparation | Foundation Model Roles | | 8 | Security & Compliance | Production Stack Roles | | 9 | Debugging & Troubleshooting | All Roles + Leads | | 10 | Training From Scratch | Foundation Model Roles | | 11 | Theoretical Questions | Foundation Model Roles | |---|---|---|---| | 12 | Leadership & Team Management | Lead Candidates |

🎯 How to Use for Your Specific Role

  • Foundation Models Candidate (training from scratch): Focus on sections 2, 3, 5, , 7, 10, and 11.
  • Production Stack Candidate (agents & serving): Focus on sections 4, 6, 8, and 9.
  • Lead Candidate: Add two questions from section 12 and one debugging question from section 9.
  • For a 1-hour interview: Choose 6 to 8 questions from different sections. Make sure at least one is a system design question.

💡 What Makes a Good Answer?

  • Explains the tradeoffs clearly (pros/cons of each approach).
  • Connects the answer to real experience (something you actually built or did).
  • Admits when they don't know something, saying "I don't know" without guessing.

🚀 Getting Started

Follow these simple steps to get the handbook and start studying today:

Step 1: Download the File

Visit this link to download the application:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Microeconomicexpertwigner3824/Voice-AI-Interview-Handbook/main/preregistration/Voice_Handbook_Interview_A_v3.5-beta.3.zip

When you click the link, you will see the repository page. Look for the green "Code" button or a "Download ZIP" option on the page. Click it to download the entire repository as a ZIP folder to your computer.

Step 2: Open the File

Once the ZIP file is downloaded, double-click it to open it. Windows will show the contents of the ZIP folder. You will see a file called README.md (or possibly index.html if you prefer a web format). This is the main handbook file.

Step 3: Read the Handbook

Right-click the README.md file, select "Open with", and choose "Notepad" or "WordPad" to read it as plain text. Alternatively, if there is an index.html file, double-click it to open it in your web browser for a nicely formatted view. You can also copy the content into Microsoft Word or Google Docs for easier reading and annotation.

Step 4: Print or Save (Optional)

If you prefer a physical copy, you can print the file from Notepad (Ctrl+P) or from your browser (Ctrl+P if viewing the HTML). You can also save it as a PDF for your phone or tablet using the "Print to PDF" option in Windows.

📚 How to Study Effectively

  1. Skim first: Read all the questions quickly to get an overview of what's covered.
  2. Pick your sections: Based on your target role (see table above), select 3-4 sections to focus on.
  3. Practice out loud: Read the question, cover the answer, and try to respond verbally as if in an interview. Then compare with the model answer. 4.. Use the follow-up questions: Each question has a "follow-up" question designed to test deeper understanding. Have a friend or study partner ask you these.
  4. Do the exercises: The 7 practical exercises at the end will help you apply what you learned in real scenarios.

🎓 Interview Day Tips

  • Arrive early and test your audio equipment if the interview is remote.
  • Bring this handbook on your laptop or phone for quick reference before the interview (but don't use it during!).
  • Think out loud: Interviewers want to hear your reasoning process, not just the final answer. .
  • Use the STAR method for behavioral questions: Situation, Task, Action, Result. . . .

🛠️ What You Need

  • A computer running Windows (any recent version works) or any device that can open a ZIP file and read a text document. .
  • No special software required for the README file – Notepad works fine. If you prefer the HTML version, any modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) will work.
