MaiPai Home:家庭自托管 AI 中心开源
getmaipai/home
A private, self-hosted AI hub for families.
Your own AI, music, videos, podcasts, maps, books, and more, on your own hardware, online or offline, for protection, privacy, and independence. Nothing leaves your house.
Features
- Chat: talk with your own AI, running entirely on your hardware.
- People: a real household roster with PIN/password sign-in per person, including kid-safe profiles that need no password at all.
- Memory: see what your household's AI has actually learned, and archive anything you'd rather it forget.
- Voice: pick from 26 built-in voices, browse a 2,000+ voice community catalog, or clone a voice from your own recording.
- Backups: automatic, encrypted, on a schedule, with old ones pruned for you.
- Settings: household preferences like conversation retention and language, changed live, no restart.
Getting started
No packaged installer yet: MaiPai Home is pre-alpha and only runs from source today. With Bun installed:
git clone https://github.com/getmaipai/home.git
cd home && bun install
bun start
The hub listens on http://localhost:8787. The first person who signs in
becomes the household owner.
Start, stop, and restart
Run these commands inside the home folder created by git clone. This
is the folder that contains package.json, backend, and frontend.
For example, if you cloned Home inside ~/Developer, enter:
cd ~/Developer/home
Start Home:
bun start
Stop Home:
bun stop
Restart Home:
bun restart
Start builds the frontend and runs Home in the background. Restart calls
stop, then start, rebuilding the frontend. These commands manage the local
source checkout; installed services use the operating system's service manager.
Startup logs are in data/local-app/app.log.
Start prints the local URL, detected LAN IP URLs, and enabled addresses
configured in Settings. Configured vanity addresses keep their own scheme
and port; direct URLs use the server's current HTTP or HTTPS mode.
Running start again prints the current addresses without starting a second
copy. It picks up changes to HTTPS and configured vanity addresses.
Development mode
For active development, run the backend and frontend as two hot-reloading processes instead of building once:
# terminal 1
cd backend && bun run dev
# terminal 2
cd frontend && bun run dev
The frontend dev server proxies /api to the backend on port 8787 by
default; set VITE_BACKEND_PORT before starting it if the backend is on a
different port (a parallel worktree, for instance). Stop either process
with Ctrl-C in its terminal, or kill <pid> if it was started in the
background.
Status
Pre-alpha. The shell, sign-in, a household roster, Chat, and basic settings are real and running end to end, verified in a real browser against the real backend - but nothing is deployed to a real household yet, and Chat answers with a placeholder until you point it at a real local model. See docs/dev.md for exactly what's built and what's deliberately deferred.
Development
See docs/dev.md for the design record and the current
step-0 checklist. scripts/check.sh runs the pinned @maipai/standards
core; it needs a sibling checkout of getmaipai/.github.
